Accounting HW Question Pls HELP!?
Dobson Construction specializes in the construction of commercial and industrial buildings. The contractor is experienced in bidding long-term construction projects of this type, with the typical project lasting fifteen to twenty-four months. The contractor uses the percentage-of-completion method of revenue recognition since, given the characteristics of the contractor’s business and contracts, it is the most appropriate method. Progress toward completion is measured on a cost to cost basis. Dobson began work on a lump-sum contract at the beginning of 2011. As bid, the statistics were as follows:
Lump-sum price (contract price),000,000
Estimated costs
Labor$ 850,000
Materials and subcontractor1,750,000
Indirect costs 400,000 3,000,000
,000,000
At the end of the first year, the following was the status of the contract:
Billings to date,230,000
Costs incurred to date
Labor$ 464,000
Materials and subcontractor1,098,000
Indirect costs 193,0001,755,000
Latest forecast total cost3,000,000
It should be noted that included in the above costs incurred to date were standard electrical and mechanical materials stored on the job site, but not yet installed, costing 5,000. These costs should not be considered in the costs incurred to date.
Instructions
(a)Compute the percentage of completion on the contract at the end of 2011.
(b)Indicate the amount of gross profit that would be reported on this contract at the end of 2011.

strobe lights for safety in Fl? Legal?
The law says that road maintenance and construction and transportation vehicles and wreckers may have strobes were there is a hazard. My question is… I own and operate a lawn maintenance company in Fl. I have some commercial jobs were I am forced to park on the side of the road (some times very close to busy traffic) Can I put a clear or amber colored strobe light in my truck so it is easier for cars to notice me parked there? Any Info would help. I just don’t think my truck’s hazard lights are doing a great job.
I want to bid on commercial construction jobs?
I have owned a small company that builds retaining walls for about a year. It has been entirely residential jobs, but I have an idea how commercial construction works from past jobs with other companies. I just need some help and advice on how to start putting my company out there to builders and GCs so they can give me a call to bid a job. Any advice would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why are they interviewing me again?
I am a Construction Estimator, specializing in residential.
I do have some warehouse / Industrial experience.
this great Co. interviewed me about a year ago, It was weird, the owner just listened the PM asked me a couple Questions, But 95% the daughter went down a list of questions, all saying on a 1 to 10 scale. what do you know about …..and you give say 9, 7 or 8 or 5. she writes it all down. Interview over. they do Commercial, Institutional, governmental, all things I had little or some experience with. Mostly as a carpenter.
I can only think of 2 reasons they called. 1 they saw I was smart and are willing to start entry / apprentice. or 2 they totally forgot they interviewed me the 1st time. It has happened before.
my resume shows 1 job I had that is close to one they built in the past, that is it!! maybe they think that is enough to start from I hope, I really want to get into that aspect of estimating big projects, to learn and grow.
Why do you think they called me?

Helping finding career good for Japan?
After schooling, I plan on visiting Japan and eventually moving there. For a career, I had settled on becoming a computer network specialist. Now, I’m not so sure. I’m trying to find a career that would suit my abilities but at the same time would allow me to find a job in Japan.
Little Personal Info:
-love working with computers
-good with art
-like people
-no problem with authority
-currently learning Japanese
-prefer to work indoors
Any suggestions would be very well appreciated. I’m not, however, interested in any sort of construction, industrial, or automotive jobs.
