After 10 1/2 years of service what severance pay should I expect ?

I’ve been a project manager for a commercial construction company and I have unique skills for odd jobs.
I was just told due to economic slow down I will probably be laid off

I am trying to break free from making someone else money and start my own commercial construction company. I have over 20 yrs experience and the once in a lifetime opportunity to secure a government contract if I can find financing to cover the initial start up costs (payroll, material costs, insurance costs).

How do I get my boss to pony up for my health insurance?

I took the job in the down economy just to keep from being unemployed. Im a salesmand and estimator for a commercial construction company. Now that I’ve been here 6 months and proven my worth I’ve asked for help with my H. Insurance and he’s resisitiing – any ideas?

Is there many residential carpenters or homebuilders that are in a union?

The reason I’m asking this questions is because it seems like most people that are in the union work for a Commercial Construction company.

I need to find a reference website about learning commercial construction (jargon, processes, etc)?

I have an interview for a Project Assistant position with a large commercial construction company tomorrow. I worked in a different construction office before and learned very little about some of the terms (Bid list, transmittals, drawings, drawing log, project binders, project controller log, RFI )

I want to learn about the whole proccess of completing a commerical construction project!
