Where can i find books on Civil Engineering?
I recently joined a Construction Company, Its major work involves Road Construction, Sewer Network Construction etc.
However i do not have any background in civil engineering and did my engineerin in Industrial Production.
Where can i find appropriate books to make myself apt with Civil Engineering topics relevant to Road Construction and Sewer Networks.
please do not suggest ebooks for which we need to pay for as there are many sites offereing the same. Can i download it as free ebook from some site?
Who could help me by editing a civil engineering text?
I’m looking for a native speaker of English with a physics or civil engineering background (from last year of highschool or first year of college on) who can check a text I translated from German into English for accuracy and readability. I hold a professional degree in translating from German to English, but the technical terms in question are a bit too much for me.
The text is approximately 6000 words (Word for Windows word count, including mathematical, physics-related formulas) and I am willing to pay the usual fee for technical copy editing of 1.00 EUR per page by pay-pal.
The topic is fire-protection in an industrial site under construction. I want a confirmation that a person with a physics or civil engineering background can understand the text that I produced and would be able to use it (similar to a manual).
Any interested persons should contact me by email through my profile or reply here.
Thank you very much.

Is the construction boom for Civil Engineers over?
There is not much in the pipeline that I can see. Civil Engineering depends on three sectors to get work. Federal/Government, Commercial, Residential.
Federal/Government Sector:
The Government is not spending any money on infrastructure projects because they have to pay for the war in Iraq and Billions are going over there for rebuilding. States are being burdened with more costs since the Federal government is not given them their share of the Federal tax dollars and it filters down to the county and local governments too. Florida is cutting their budgets for everything 10%
Commercial Sector:
Companies are not spending on new projects since the uncertainty of the fate of the illegals, the skyrocketing construction materials costs, higher interest rates, higher property costs, higher property taxes and the dead residential market.
Residential Sector:
Well, what can I say. It is dead as a door knob with the exception of a handful of places and those places have slowed down a lot.
what is the difference between "construction management" and "civil engineering?"?
so if i have experience and have the knowledge, i can become a manager in the engineering field. so what is the differnce in between construction management and civil engineering?
and which one makes more money?
AND TELL ME WHO DOES THE ACTUAL CONTRACT? I mean, who contacts the person or the company who pays them?
and also, tell me who pays for who?
