Prior to moving to Arizona, I started construction in 1974, in Wichita, Kansas. I worked on many jobs, but before leaving Wichita one of the last jobs I worked on was a house in a subdivision called Vickridge. Vickridge is an exclusive, high-end home community originally founded by Jack Vickers, President of Vickers Petroleum Company in 1922. He initially purchased 320 acres of farm land for 000, and Mr. & Mrs. Vickers started building their palatial new estate at a cost of 0000. It had 12 bedrooms and 9 baths! The home I was working on in Vickridge, was a new home being built by Jamie Coulter, of Coulter Enterprises. He owned 170 Pizza Hut franchises from 1965-1980, and had affiliations in some other restaurant chains, as well. Pizza Hut also started in Wichita, Kansas. The Coulter home had 30-foot high, inlaid wood ceilings, top-quality intricate woodwork throughout, and a huge stone fireplace large enough for a person to stand in! After moving to Arizona, and becoming a Tucson Builder, I worked for a company building cabinets for Lear Jets. They had to be precise and quality-built. Within a year, I started my own construction company, and was working for several architects building the higher-end custom homes, and town homes.
